Why 20p?
The cost of living crises has made it difficult for all of us, but 20p is what you find in a sofa, your car ashtray, under sideboard, in your piggy bank.
You can’t buy much with 20p anymore — but together it adds up.
How much do we hope to raise?
Every penny helps.
We want to organise Epidimeolgy studies, firstly in and around Bentham, then methodically across the UK starting at the worst polluted areas until we have catalogued the issues across the UK.
Impact
Just think, if it were proven that PFAS (from any source) were linked to various debilitating health illnesses, if this is the case the ease that would be put on the state in Benefit payments alone would be enormous.
It isn't just a Bentham issue..
PFAS pollution in the UK is widespread.
Lemonde.fr (a French newspaper) published a Map on their website showing the pollution issues in Europe. (credit watershed investigations).It shows that the PFAS pollution in the UK is an epidemic.
These chemicals have been getting into
- our drains,
- our soils,
- our groundwater,
- our pets,
- the livestock,
- our vegetables, fruits and
- our bodies.
Whats the fix?
That we do not know and there is a lot of work that needs to start now.
First we need to find out how badly this pollution has affected the UKs as a whole, that means testing and a national research project.
What will we do with the funds?
We aim to get ordinary people in as many pollution affected UK areas involved as possible.
Testing & Research
We have put together a multi discaplinary comittee, which will be with academia, local councils, Government departments and residents to find the best way forward in dealing with this problem.
Running costs
Bare minimum running costs, such as software, time, and services required to keep in touch.
Studies
It will fund studies, such as blood serum testing, epidemiology studies, a full impact study on insects, land, aquifers, food, pets and livestock. We are even considering a study on bees and whether they are affected by this pollution.
